Iwaigi baby kimono and Semamori stitch design book (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Old Japanese padded ‘iwaigi’ (festive cotton kimono for baby) with ‘semamori’ (Amulet stitch against evil and protection for keeping one’s spirit in) of such uncut embroidery thread and such rough seam of sleeve which mean baby’s semamori is more like elaborately decorative and spiritual than functional for the make of adult’s kimono, – attached with an old handmade semamori design book including various samples of geometrical patterns or lucky omen patterns, Taisho – Early Showa period, 20th century, as both are important and rare historical materials today.
