Derori style painting, Calligraphy practice of mother and child (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Skilful and something subtle Japanese painting on silk expressing well the style and atmosphere of the days of ‘Detori’ movement in Taisho-Early Showa period in early 20th century. The definition of ‘Derori’ is hard to be explained in words, but according to Ryusei Kishida as a representative derori painter, it’s like strong, monstrous, vulgar, bloody, raw, weird, and something bitter but sweet things with the feeling of the creature. Signed ‘Kiyoko’ as its painter. In fine antique condition, with expected slight holes and stains as seen. approx. 136 x 45.5cm (53.54 x 17.91in)
