Goryowan – Japanese Buddhist black pottery bowl (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Japanese unglazed black earthenware bowl called ‘Goryowan’ classified into peculiar pottery in Japan because of its incompleted identification of today (inferred to be once used as a substitute of imported metalware for Buddhist ritual though), circa Nara period – Early Heian period, 8th century. Thin-make form and silvering texture designed with aesthetic and mysterious line pattern, in used antique condition as is with expected slight damages as seen. approx.
