Imari blue and white porcelain four-sided incense burner (Dealer: minakata antiques) – Utensil of ‘Kodo’ (traditional Japanese incense-smelling ceremony) for emitting fragrance into air by fumigating ‘koboku’ (aromatic tree). “Hearing the fragrance” instead of “Smelling the fragrance”, as an unique preferable expression of the way of Kodo. ‘Ko Imari’ (Early Imari porcelain ware) of the Edo period, with the design of mutual pictures of waves and folksy house, attached with a metal lid seemed to be made in Meiji period as usual arranged combination of such old days. In fine antique condition, with expected signs of use as koro. Attached with a wooden box.
