WOMAN – Japanese folk Kuwae-men papier mache mask (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Kuwae-men (papier-mache mask worn to hold backside wooden projection in mouth) for rural theatrical performance. Edo-Meiji period, 19th century. Fine form of the layman expressing the Japanese facies of those days, which seem to be influenced well from Kabuki as not like conventionalized Noh mask. In used antique condition, with expected damages as seen. approx. L 20cm (7.87in)
