Portable small Buddhist zushi shrine with Kishibojin image (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Small Buddhist shrine altar enshrining small wood carving ‘Kishibojin’ (=’Kishimojin’ / ‘Hariti’) known as a scary deity who eats human children, but also a prolific and adoring parent on the other hand, hence worshiped as Goddess of Children. Taisho period, early 20th century. Zushi: approx. H 11cm (4.33in), Image: approx. H 8cm (3.14in) Broken hinge at lower part of left door as seen.
