NAMU AMIDA BUTSU – Flag with Buddhist six kanji characters (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Unusual style of ‘Rokuji myogo’ of Namu Amida Butsu’ (Six kanji characters used to write ‘Hail to Amitabha Buddha’ in Japanese) with the date of Tempo 13 (1842) in Edo period, coming from Esashi district, Oshu city in Iwate prefecture, Tohoku region as its provenance.
Seems to be traced the faded characters again and again to be succeeded to today. Made of cotton. In fine used condition as seen. approx. 127 x 29cm (49.99 x 11.41in)
