Sakiori quilting vest from Tohoku region (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – ‘Sakiori’ as the Japanese cotton textile woven with a woof made of cloth or silk and torn into thin strips. Vest of peasant workwear for woodcutter or others, with a decoration of beautiful ‘sashiko’ quilting at the back. Meiji period, 19th century. Small tears as seen.
