SET OF TENGU EMA (Dealer: titcoRet) – 30 pieces (plus an extra piece without frame as gift) set of ‘Ema’ (lit. ‘Horse picture’) as Shinto’s votive wooden tablets, with the traditional motif of ‘Mukai Tengu’ (Tengu (Long-nosed goblin) facing each other) specially for fire prevention and protection from evil spirit. Taisho-Showa period, early-mid 20th century, Japan. approx. 15 x 15cm (5.90 x 5.90in) each. Unique collector’s item. Expected aged deterioration as is. Stained when touch some pieces.
