LONG HEAD OLD MAN (Dealer: titcoRet) – Very unique votive ‘Jurojin’ (God of longevity) head sculpture with somehow humorous but such serious face, once dedicated to the temple for the enthronement of Emperor Taisho. Taisho period (1912-1926), Japan. Originally full-coated in pink paper, but ripped-off in half of it then its inner wooden texture comes out as seen, in such condition as is. Head part is made of woven bamboo. Nails stuck on face are the remains of nailed beard. approx. L 102 x D 25cm (40.15 x 9.84in)
