FRENCH DOLL, PANDA, AND GOLDFISH (Dealer: hotoke) – Old “anonymous” oil painting on canvas, titled as “French doll, Panda, Goldfish” at the backside, Showa period, early-mid 20th century, Japan. Although the painter’s name as Kiyoshi Yamashita is signed as well, I believe it’s NOT painted by that famous Kiyoshi Yamashita (1922-1971), and guess this sign would have been intentionally added by the former owner or its intermediary. So, I only saw its unexpectedly aesthetic and lovely crudeness (essence) itself then acquired this as it’s “an anonymous art piece”, as I hope you would do same as me… In such vintage condition as is, with some damage due to age and storage condition as seen. approx. 40.5 x 32cm (15.94 x 12.59in)
