HORSE PICTURE (Dealer: Pottari) – Anonymous votive Japanese folk art piece of worshipper’s wooden tablet offered for Shinto shrine, so-called ‘Ema’ (lit. ‘Horse picture’) drawn by its worshipper him/herself as an amateur painter, with the highlights of such chracteristic “anime eyes” succeeding to typical Japanese DNA. Showa period, early-mid 20th century, Iwate, Tohoku region. 24 x 17.5 x 1cm (9.44 x 6.88 x 0.39in).
