DRUNK BOTTLE (Dealer: hotoke) – Old Japanese large ‘tokkuri’ (pottery sake flask) actually “well-used” by the drunkards at a place like liquor shop or bar or eating house named ‘Sake-hei’ (or ‘Sakahei’), with such “well-grown” wabi scenery of surface texture due to aged frequent use and the abstraction caused by deep sake penetration. Meiji-Taisho period, 19th – early 20th century. Koshinohara, Shiga prefecture. H 31 x D 13 cm (12.20 x 5.11 in).
