RAINMAKING HANGING SCROLL (Dealer: titcoRet) – An old Japanese hanging scroll said to have been used in folk prayers for rain. Originally a single-stroke protective talisman associated with protection from fire, it was later venerated within an old household as a rainmaking scroll. Edo period (18th–19th century). Image area approx. 20 × 68 cm (7.9 × 26.8 in); mounting approx. 26 × 118 cm (10.2 × 46.5 in). Creases, tears, and old repairs are present. Condition as shown.
