ANDON-SHOKUDAI (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Wooden ‘shokudai’ (candlestand) originally used as an ‘andon’ (lamp with a paper shade) for its cross-shaped bracket arm of upper part. Meiji period (1868-1912), Japan. Conversely, I think such form of the remains would be more interesting and impressive than the original form. And also, such aged sooted texture is so beautiful as is. In slightly leaned condition when display, because its pole comes out a little from the bottom. approx. H 40cm (15.74in), 23 x 24cm (9.05 x 9.44in)
