ANDROGYNOUS KAGURA MASK (Dealer: hotoke) – Unique and refined old Japanese folk wood (paulownia) carving mask for the local kagura Shinto theatrical dance (in Chubu region), Edo-Meiji period, 19th century, approx. 17.7 x 11 x D 6cm (6.96 x 4.33 x 2.36in). Basically, a woman mask, but beyond sexuality, with mysteriously and spiritually such various facial expressions with various emotions from various angles and views.
