AVANT-GARDE AINU CALLIGRAPHY (Dealer: titcoRet) – A rare and highly unique abstract work categorized as avant-garde Japanese calligraphy, inspired by the worldview and patterns of the Ainu people, who traditionally had no written language. The abstract forms are conceived as fictional characters resembling an imaginary script. The reverse is inscribed with the title: “Ainu Moji” (“Ainu Characters”). Dated ‘Showa 6’ (1931). 47.2 × 152 cm (18.58 × 59.84 in). Age-related wear and deterioration, as seen.
