BANDORI – Japanese mingei back pad with name (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Woven backpack cushion pad for carrying loads, called ‘Bandori’ as a particular local mingei farm tool in Tohoku region. Made of straw, cotton, and waste pieces of boro textile, with its owner’s name of ‘Nakagawa’ woven into as unusually. Meiji – Early Showa period, early 20th century. In fine antique condition, with expected stains for its age.
