BORO vintage textile cotton kotatsu coverlet (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Patched and sewn, piece-by-piece, and used again and again…, as a thick type of Japanese mingei folk textile called BORO used as kotatsu coverlet. Early 20th century. Front is the double-crane of ‘kissho’ auspicious pattern designed family crest (kamon), and the flip side is the combination of indigo-dyed textile and ‘koshi’ checked pattern, as the both are very expressive as impressive reversible art works with unique crisscross-stitched reinforcement by sewing machine. Some stains and rips as seen. approx. 168 x 154 cm (66.14 x 60.62in)
