BORO STORAGE BAG FOR COCOON BALL (Dealer: antiques.iwata) – Large bag with its trade name and ‘boro’-like mending made of such glossy washi Japanese paper that looks like leather at first sight used to contain silkworm cocoon balls so-called ‘Mayubukuro’ (lit. ‘Cocoon bag’), 19th century, Japan, 110 x 88cm (43.30 x 34.64in). Aged deterioration as is, but no fatal damage as seen. Not only displayable like an abstract painting, but three-dimensionally enjoyable as well. (like the last photo would be such a three-dimensional example contained stuffing into.)
