CARTOONISH HORSE PAINTING (Dealer: titcoRet) – Worshipper’s wooden tablet dedicated to the shrine called ‘Ema’ (lit. ‘Horse picture’), with such a lovely painting of cartoonish white horse with upward gaze. Late Edo – Meiji period, 19th century, Japan. approx. 22.9 x 19.3 x 0.7cm (9.01 x 7.59 x 0.27in). A little larger type than usual. Peelings and bend due to age as is.
