MONKEY DEITY OR DOSOJIN (Dealer: titcoRet) – A Japanese stone deity from Nagano Prefecture, possibly associated with monkey-related folk beliefs such as Kōshin or Sannō, or with Dosojin, guardian deities traditionally placed along roads and village boundaries to protect against misfortune and evil spirits. The protruding face, hands held together, and traces of both legs, though heavily worn, suggest a possible connection to such traditions. Its exact history and provenance are unknown. Edo period (17th–19th century). Approx. 31 × 14.5 × 10 cm (12.2 × 5.7 × 3.9 in). The moss is fragile and may come off during transportation, but for international shipping, the moss will be removed before shipment. Age-related wear is present. Condition as shown.
