DAISHO KANBAN (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Traditional Japanese wooden signboard called ‘Daisho kanban’ (lit.’Large and small signboard’) hanged at mercantile house for the reversible notification of whether the month of ‘dai’ (large) as 30-day month or the month of ‘sho’ (small) as 29-day month based on the Japanese lunar calendar, which was the easy and simple sign for the payment at the end of each month as the main usage (until the early Meiji period). Edo-Meiji period, 19th century. Some wormholes as seen.
