DEFORMATION OKAME (Dealer: titcoRet) – Aged Japanese wood carving *’Okame’ mask for the use of folk theatrical performance (such as ‘Kyogen’ (Noh comedy)) as type of ‘Kuwae-men’ mask worn to hold backside projection in mouth, made more humorously than usual, Edo period, 19th century, approx. H 15.5 x W 15.3 x D 4.5cm (6.10 x 6.02 x 1.77in). Expected damage due to actual use and age as is.

*Okame (=Otafuku) – Iconic face of homely, cheery, and funny traditional Japanese woman who brings many happiness.
