HANDMADE DESIGN BOOK WITH 115 SEMAMORI STITCHINGS (Dealer: titcoRet) – Very refined and delicately made traditional Japanese sample book of various 115 stitched designs of ‘Semamori’ (Amulet stitch against evil spirit for children sewn on the back of kimono as the one of Japanese folk customs since Edo period (1603-1868)), with stitched title (as ‘Moncho’ (Design book)), stitched date of creation (Red-letter day of August in Taisho 8 (1919)), and also stitched maker’s name on the paper covers, approx. 15.5 x 7 x 3cm (6.10 x 2.75 x 1.18in). Some expected damage due to aging as is as seen.
