DON’T WORRY, COME IN. (Dealer: hotoke) – Old wood carving kanban (Japanese signboard) used for provably tea house (or pub or bar or so) with such unique design of traditional Japanese wordplay with ‘Sickle’, ‘Bowl’, and three hiragana letters (as “ha-i-re”) that stands for ‘Come in’. 19th – early 20th century, approx. 49 x 34.2 x 2.5cm (19.29 x 13.46 x 0.98in). The whole design with this wordplay is read as “Kama wan, ha-i-re” in Japanese and translated to “Don’t worry, come in.”. “Kama” means ‘Sickle’, “Wan” means ‘Bowl’, and continuously “Kama wan” means “Don’t worry”. Some cracks and bend due to aging as is.
