DRUGSTORE CAT (Dealer: hotoke) – ‘Nemuri-neko’ (Sleeping cat) made of ceramic coated with white slip as a drugstore okimono for sales promotion of rat poison named ‘Neko-irazu’ (“Cat not needed”), signed at bottom as “Specialty store of Neko-irazu / Ugajin drugstore, Yashu-Shimotsuke (Tochigi prefecture)”. Scarce vintage local okimono relating with Neko-irazu, moreover quite a rare all white color type hardly seen. (usually black and white pattern for the motif of Nemuri-neko) Showa period, 20th century. approx. W 26 x 13cm (10.23 x 5.11in), H 10cm (3.93in)
