EYE EMA (Dealer: titcoRet) – An old Japanese ema (votive wooden plaque) depicting an eye, dedicated in prayer for healing at a time when medical treatment was limited. Approx. 12 × 18.5 × 0.5 cm (4.7 × 7.3 × 0.2 in). The inscription as an offering by a 36-year-old woman named Okiku Nomura. A later label attached to the reverse identifies it as originating from Umamushi Kannon in Wakayama and dates it to the Meiji period (late 19th – early 20th century). Age-related wear is present. Condition as shown. *The image showing two ema is for reference only. The second example is an Edo-period eye ema from a local history and folklore museum, included for comparison.
