JIZO BOSATSU (Dealer: hotoke) – A masterpiece of unique wood carving statue of ‘Minshubutsu’ (lit. “Folk Buddha”) with such lovely face and proportions carved by a certain ordinary people with more free mind as a non-professional Buddhist sculptor, Edo period (1603-1868), Japan, approx. H 27cm (10.62in). Natural and aesthetic aged deterioration as is including timeworn color with slight remains of original paint, some losses of body parts, and lacquer-peelings.
