GODS AND SHRINE (Dealer: hotoke) – Spherical stone god so-called ‘Maruishigami’ only seen in Yamanashi Prefecture as one of the most mysterious and unique existences (form of worship) in the Japanese local folk beliefs enshrined within aged ‘zushi’ household wooden shrine (H 29 x W 28 x D 21.5 cm (11.41 x 11.02 x 8.46in)), together with miniature clay gods of two Ebisu and three Daikoku, and also two old coins, in such original (damaged) condition passing through generations as found as is. Meiji-Taisho period, early 20th century. Because the shrine was too dirty when found, briefly washed and cleaned though unspoiled its feeling of matureness as seen.
