Antique Japanese Gosho Ningyo Palace Doll  (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Gosho Ningyo (Palace Doll) with dog on the lap, coating and finishing with ‘gofun'(chalks) and dressed in the cloth made from the old fabric once used in the Imperial court. Quite an unique and lovely archaic face. Late Edo – Meiji period, 19th century. Gosho Ningyo (Palace Doll) was originally started to be made in Kyoto around the Mid Edo period as gifts from the Imperial Family to the children of Daimyo (Feudal Lords).
