HENOHENOMOHEJI JIZO (Dealer: titcoRet) – Because I don’t like the original face of this jizo, I changed it to ‘henohenomoheji’ (traditional combination of Japanese hiragana characters which are arranged to look like a face). Wood carving. Originally Edo period, 19th century, Japan. approx. H 18cm (7.08in). Aged damage. Mark of bond at the bottom. Right hand is removable.
