BEWARE OF FIRE – Japanese hanging scroll of pictograph slogan (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Unique type of ‘Gofu’ (talisman) with hand-drawn pictograph expressing “Hi-no-yojin” (Beware of fire) as traditional Japanese slogan of protection against fire, 19th century. Each letter expressed with sun and moon, sword-formed river (stand for the sword of ‘Fudomyoo’ (Acala) who is a water god called ‘Fudo-ken’), snake of water god, dragon winding around ‘Fudo-ken’, and water or clouds. The condition is as is with such damages as seen.
