Antique Japanese travel raincoat Edo period 19c (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – ‘Hikimawashi kappa’ (Sleeveless raincoat for travel use) of the Edo period, made of cotton and oil paper, which was originally imitated from ‘capa’ (mantle) of Spanish missionary who visited Japan in the Sengoku period (approx.1467-1568). Especially such withered lining is aesthetic besides its front. The condition is as is with such aged deterioration.
