UTSUSHI OF KOREAN INLAID CHAWAN (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Copied piece with the reverence of Korean pottery bowl with inlaid chrysanthemum design in Goryeo Dynasty, as a reappearance with high level technique and knowledge called ‘utsushi’, as the one of unique traditional Japanese art form composed of the Japanese method and style. Probably an Agano ware piece for its make, though unidentified. Edo period, 18-19th century, Japan. ‘Kintsugi’ gold repair at edge, hailine crack, and chip at bottom. Treasured and handed down through the generations among predecessors (connoisseurs) as an well-used ‘denseihin’ (with laudable ‘tea-stain’ at inner bottom), attached with a wooden box.
