IRON HAND FAN WITH THE BIG DIPPER DESIGN (Dealer: antiques.iwata) – ‘Tessen’ (ref. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_war_fan) with the design of the Big Dipper on paper, Edo period, 19th century, Japan, Open: 51 x 28.5cm (20.07 x 11.22in), Fold: 4 x 28.5cm (1.57 x 11.22in). Revolution of the heavenly bodies was the one of main supporting foundations for the people’s life at that time, and especially the Big Dipper was very meant to them. Not practical condition for the original usage, but still aesthetic for the appreciation. Expected aged deterioration as is, and some repairs as seen.
