JOSEON DYNASTY KATADE JAR (Dealer: minakata antiques) – 19th century, Korea. approx. D 15.7cm (6.18in), H 11.1cm (4.37in)
Imperfect white porcelain jar of Korean folk everyday-ware (used as a seasoning container) categorized into ‘katade’ (lit. ‘solid type’) by Japanese tea ceremonial term and by its connoisseurs or enthusiasts themselves. Such clay with a high iron content changes into the color of gray or blue or so, so that those every pieces and even those similar formed pieces are all different like a finger print. “Gold-repairs” at mouth, but those seems not to be ‘kintsugi’ with lacquer and gold in my eyes. (maybe with bond ? and something gold-colored?, though not sure) Some slight scratches at body, but not seen fatal damage besides.
