JOSEON DYNASTY WHITE PORCELAIN BOWL (Dealer: minakata antiques) – Such “pure white” porcelain ware was only allowed to be used by the nobility until 18th century in Korean Peninsula, because white was the symbol color of Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) and because of its extreme scarcity.
This is a very pure white porcelain bowl as the one of special masterpieces from the early Joseon Dynasty, 14-15th century, given refined ‘kintsugi’ (gold-repair) which makes its original whiteness deeper and more beautiful as the result. Attaching a lacquer-lid means that it was once used as a ‘mizusashi’ (water jar used for ‘cha-no-yu’ tea ceremony).
