Unique and powerful wood carving male god mask with such sharp and well-defined features made and used for the essential ‘Kagura’ (sacred Shinto music and dance) in Miyazaki region based on faithfully the motif of ‘Kojiki’ (Record of Ancient Matters), ‘Nihonshoki’ (Chronicles of Japan) or Japanese mythology. In fine antique condition for this type, with inborn chips, worm holes, and small repair as is.
