LARGE KAKISHIBU PAPER BOX (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Box made of paper coated with ‘kakishibu’ persimmon tannin for waterproofing and preservative treatment. Meiji – Early Showa period, early 20th century, Japan. Probably reuse of ‘yutan’ oilcloth? Personally it’s a first sight as hardly seen such similar piece. Aged deterioration as is.
