Noh mask KANTANOTOKO (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Wood carving mask called ‘Kantanotoko’ (Honest young man) used for a Noh program of ‘Kantan’ (The Pillow of Kantan), required the various expressions (“suffering” in the first half, “splendor” in the dream, and “cheerfulness with nirvana” at the end of program) with only one mask. Showa period, 20th century, Japan. Attached with wooden box. approx. L 20cm (7.87in), W 14cm (5.51in)
