KASUGAJOKU – Black-lacquered ritual stand Edo 19c (Dealer: misakadou) – Originally used as the ritual article (‘shingu’) at Kasuga-taisha shrine, and such ritual stand or table of this particular form is generally called ‘Kasuga-joku’, which the Japanese connoisseurs have applied to use it for flower arrangement or home decor for many generations.
Lovely smaller size, extremely refined lacquering, attached with metal fittings at edge and with hemp cloth at backside of tabletop for reinforcement, as it’s a quality piece of the Edo period, 19th century. In fine antique condition, with expected slight aged deterioration, with stain of the sign of dripping candle, as it is. approx. H 13.5cm (5.31in), W 25cm (9.84in), D 19cm (7.48in)
