This is the early roof tile allowed to be used for only the large Buddhist temple around ‘Heijokyo’ (Ancient name of Nara) built in such initial stage. Hitting mark at the front and hemp cloth mark at the backside for its primitive making process (as pasting clay on the cylinder coated in hemp cloth, then hitting and cutting into four pieces). Repaired after combustion like war or disaster as is.
