SHISHI KOMAINU (Dealer: titcoRet)

Edo period, 19th century, Japan. approx. H 13.5cm (5.31in), W 11cm (4.33in), D 5.5cm (2.16in)

Small and lovely pair of wood carving ‘Shishi komainu’ (lit. ‘Lion dogs’ as Shinto guardians enshrine at the entrance of shrine). Each statue is glued with stand. Some lacquer-peeling as is.
