ME NO EMA (Dealer: titcoRet) – Ema of eyes. Worshipper’s wooden tablet dedicated to the shrine called ‘Ema’ (lit. ‘Horse picture’), with the painting of two Japanese hiragana letters of ‘ME’ which stand for “Eyes” as the prayer for cure of eye disease. Showa period, early 20th century, Japan. Crack at upper part as is. approx. 17.5 x 22 x 1.3cm (6.88 x 8.66 x 0.51in)
