MINSHUBUTSU (Dealer: titcoRet) – Wood carving statue of ‘Minshubutsu’ (lit. “Folk Buddha”) carved by non-professional sculptor as ordinary people. Niigata prefecture, Tohoku region, Japan. Edo period, 19th century. Quite a calm appearance with aesthetic presence. Aged deterioration and stain. Unstandable by itself as seen. Some wood dust from the joint hole at the bottom as is. approx. H 24.5cm (9.64in)
