WHITE WOLF (Dealer: hotoke) – Old Japanese hanging scroll of “White wolf in the moonlight”, original painting on silk with an unidentified sign and the red-seal, 19th – early 20th century, in aesthetically damaged condition with some small holes and rips due to age as is as seen. Lack of both roller ends. Very unique and rare motif of white wolf as divine messenger of the mountain deities (called ‘Yama no Kami’) or sometimes as the god (‘kami’) by itself in Shinto sanctuaries.
