Nara lacquer ware – Inkstone case with mother-of-pearl (Dealer: misakadou) – Quality vintage inkstone case with ‘raden’ (mother-of-pearl work) as ‘Nara shikki’ (Nara lacquer ware) which has a history of 1300 years and is known as the origin of Japanese lacquering. Characteristic raden design with quite a strong air of Tenpyo culture (Nara period, 710-794), because of the lacquerer of Nara shikki who belong to shrine and temple. Showa period (Pre-1970). approx. H 6cm (2.36in), W 24cm (9.44in), D 29cm (11.41in) In fine condition, with expected sign of use (as slight flaws and scratches). No inkstone, no brush, and no water dropper in the case.
