Wood carving, Showa period, 20th century, Japan. approx. L 20.8cm (8.18in), W 14cm (5.51in). Black-painted head top expresses ‘eboshi’ (black-lacquered headgear (made of silk, cloth or paper) originally worn by court nobles in ancient Japan). Slight burn at lower part. Attached with a mask-pouch.
