PLATE WITH POTSHERD (Dealer: Jinta) – Mixture of Imari/Arita porcelain plate and its potsherd sticking each other naturally in kiln-firing. Edo period (1603-1868), Japan. approx. 13.5 x 12.5 x H 5cm (5.31 x 4.92 x 1.96in). Although this kind of “failure ware” usually tend to be thrown away then excavated in the later years as academic reference item, this piece was unusually and originally treasured with such repair as it’s an object of art. Aesthetic of its form and texture would made it so.
